Meet the Artist Sammi Martin
After attending New York's Art Students League, Sammi Supree Martin
went abroad to further her studies. Upon her return she settled
in Greenwich Village and went on to make a name for herself nationally
as well as internationally. Her impressive murals may be viewed
in banks, hotels, public and other commercial and residential establishments.
Looking to create other avenues of expression, she expanded her
work to include a line of free standing, hand painted custom screens,
which can also be hung for a more dramatic effect. So unusual were
these beautiful screens that she was commissioned by an international
art house in Japan to design a private collection for them.
Sammi speaks about her Artwork
My art is very versatile due to the varied client list I've worked
with. This has always been a challenge I've enjoyed as I can then
explore art in it's many dimensions. Since I work in so many different
styles, my prices will vary according to the complexity of the design
required. Murals can often be priced at so much per sq. ft., but
screens and smaller pieces need to be judged by the individual job.
Many of my commissions have been for private clients as well as
corporate institutions.
Latest one-of-a-kind creations are 3-dimensional wall reliefs in
wood. The themes of these new pieces are either geometric or figurative
and decorative in design. To enhance and add dramatic effect to
the work, a combination of materials such as opaque acrylic, steel
and wire are incorporated. They will be an artistic focal point
to any room in which they are hung and are always conversation pieces.
Commission History
In order to work on a commission basis, I need to know what the
requirements are regarding size, style and subject matter. If you
have a design in mind and can provide me with either a reference
piece or a definite idea, it helps in whatever research I might
have to do. A partial client list:
